Islamic Insurance Society (IIS) is ready to collaborate with all stakeholders in the sharia insurance industry in Indonesia to develop and prepare a competency-based curriculum. This is aimed at preparing qualified and competent sharia insurance experts in accordance with the latest Insurance Skill Standards and industry challenges, as well as the competency standards set by BNSP.
This was discussed during the IIS Annual Work Meeting held in Bumi Gumati Sentul, Bogor, on Saturday (20/1). The meeting was chaired by Edi Setiawan, the Chairman of IIS for the 2023-2026 period. The meeting focused on evaluating the 2023 work program and planning the 2024 work program.
Edi also expressed that as an association of sharia insurance experts, IIS is ready to meet the needs of competent and qualified Human Resources according to their respective levels for the sharia insurance industry. He stated, “The potential of the sharia insurance industry in Indonesia is still very large to continue growing along with the growth of sharia banking and the sharia ecosystem.”
In order to support this commitment, IIS has conducted several training sessions in 2023. There were seven basic level training sessions attended by 262 participants, two junior expert level training sessions attended by 36 participants, and one expert level training session attended by nine participants. As of now, there are 2,805 alumni from the basic level, 473 from the junior expert level, and 74 from the expert level.
In addition to regular training, IIS also conducts literacy activities to promote and socialize knowledge about sharia insurance to the public. (*)
